Couples and family counseling

Couples and family therapy for you and your loved ones

to work through the tough spots in life.

You may have arrived here if you …

  • and your partner are arguing more than usual

  • and your partner are finding it hard to communicate without emotions escalating

  • Feel like you’ve tried everything and just don’t know what to do anymore

  • Are thinking of ending your relationship

  • Are worried your loved one is an “alcoholic” or struggles with “alcoholism” or “addiction”

  • Argue with your loved one about drinking

  • Want to help your loved one cut down their drinking but don’t know how

  • Are tired of covering up for your loved one who has a drinking problem

  • Are angry that your loved one promises to stop drinking but doesn’t

  • Have a loved one with a DUI

However you arrived here, I’m so glad you’re here. Read on to see if my couples and family therapy might help you.

I can help you:

  • learn how to communicate more effectively with your partner

  • get to the core of the issue so you can tackle it directly as a team (against the problem) rather than against each other

  • take care of yourself

  • learn how to help a loved one with alcohol abuse and addiction with strategies that can work

  • make sense of the complex feelings that come with having a loved one with alcohol abuse or addiction

  • learn ways to support your loved one in recovery without trying to control them

  • manage the worry and lack of trust that comes with a newly-sober family member

My experience with couples and family therapy for addiction

Since 2020, I have been counseling couples, families, and family members with loved ones who struggle with addiction. Addiction really is a family issue, and research indicates that family support can significantly increase the success of a family member drinking and using less. I can help family members learn effective ways to support their loved ones — without nagging, or enabling — and also help family members take care of themselves, which is really important, too.
